Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

The Real Viktor Navorski

Remember Viktor Navorski? Tom Hanks lovable innocent character from The Terminal movie, where he stays for a couple of months stranded in the International Terminal in New York City... Now in Mexico we have our own real life Viktor Navorski... His name? Hiroshi Nohara.

This Japanese fellow has been in the Mexico City airport for around 80 days now, and hasnt expressed interest in leaving. He says he is happy there, he has been treated very well by the Mexican authorities and he has chosen a table in the middle of the food court as his home and just sits there doing nothing. He eats hamburgers and coffee, although there is a wide variety of food there, he says he loves eating burgers.

Some recent developments have indicated that he left his country looking for his girlfriend and is still looking for her, as they parted ways a while ago and she left to Brazil... he has commented that his intentions were to just make a layover in Mexico to later go to Brazil, but since he lost his passport he had to get a replacement from the Japanese Consulate and had to wait a long time for it, so he decided to stay.

Mexican authorities have stated that they cannot deport this character, for his papers are in order and he hasnt committed any crime whatsoever, his consulate have ordered him not to bother passengers, and clean up a bit, for he looks like a homeless person, for he is a homeless guy, except if you count The Terminal as a home...

I wonder how much time is Mr. Naroshi spending in our country... maybe he is waiting for Catherine Zeta Jones to show up, maybe its just his way of becoming famous, maybe its a publicity stunt... but for now he is a celebrity in the Mexico City airport... what an interesting achievement... become a celebrity for doing absolutely nothing.

Charlie's viral video

I think I have mentioned it on LK before, but ill say it again... Im a huge ITS ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA fan, I think right now it might be the funniest programming on TV, unfortunately it airs on FX, which is not that known, but fortunately for us it airs at a time where they can say bad words without the beep... Its an incredible show and if you havent seen it I strongly recommend it.... the easier way to get it is through Itunes...

Anyways, this is a clip from the show, where Charlie and Dee seek to do a viral video that is a major hit in youtube, and while they are trying to come up with something, Charlie finds Dee's E-Diary and posts it on Youtube with the title PatheticGirl43.... he also adds the greenman in the end... another awesome Charlie moment from the show...

Family Guy vs The Simpsons

This is the typical debate between people who watch cartoons on FOX... who is better? The Simpsons or Family Guy? its hard to decide sometimes, because both of them have their own cool stuff, but many people usually argue that Family Guy is a cheap knock off of the Simpsons... that may be true, maybe not, maybe its just a way to pay tribute to the mother of all cartoon parodies...

Anyways, I was just reading an article on Set McFarlane on Fast Company, and the article states that "Family Guy, has surpassed The Simpsons, as the most-popular animated show on TV. Among males 18 to 34, often cited as the most desirable demographic in advertising, Family Guy is the highest-rated scripted program in all of television..." so even if its a cheap knock off it has still achieved what many thought wasnt possible... beating The Simpsons as the best cartoon of FOX.

I personally prefer Family Guy than the Simpsons, and in no way do I consider it a copy, I do think that they based some of their characters from the Simpsons, but cmon, lets face it, they are both parodies of American Life, and there is no way you can make the typical american, without him being compared to Homer Simpson... however, they did try to mix it up a bit with the main character in American Dad by doing an action packed dad from the CIA, but in the end, he is just as stupid as Homer or Peter... Plus I dont think that Chris can be compared in any way to Bart Simpson, and the same is to be said in the Stewie vs Maggie area... Lisa vs Meg or Marge vs Lois could be some sort of copy, but besides that I think, both of them have really original characters, each funny in its own way....

I do not think one is better than the other one, I think that its a generational issue, what does this mean, precisely what it sounds like, it all depends on which generation is the public audience... the same debate happened with Seinfeld vs Friends, or if you want to wander into other areas there is Joe Namath vs Joe Montana, Coke vs Pepsi, McDonalds vs Burger King, etc...

Anyways its good that both of these TV shows keep on going strong... American Dad is not so far behind, and next year McFarlane will unveil his newest creation and Family Guy spin off, The Cleveland Show, of course based on the show's most lovable african american Cleveland. I wouldnt doubt that after that maybe there is a spin off from Roger Smith (the alien of american dad)...

Monsters vs Aliens, the newest movie from the studio about a group of monsters contacted by the government to put an end to the alien infestation coming to earth... huh? thats right, I think it sounds like a spoof of some other movies, just like Shrek was to fairy tales...

SNAPSHOTS: Different USBS

Its funny to think that there are a million ways a hard drive can take shape nowadays, thanks to the USBS... I recently found an article where it featured a new USB that kept people from stealing your USB, as seen in the first picture... so I decided to look for several other options that have been developed to use as USB Drives. Some actually seem useful like the Credit Card USBs, other are really stupid... anyways, here is the sampling:

Iphone Gloves

I couldn't believe what I was seeing... someone actually made specially designed gloves for the Ipod touch and the Iphone... thats right, I give you the Etre Touchy gloves made by the company of the same name, based in England. I think some other company has already registered the name iGlove...

It seems that now that its winter time, many peope will be wearing gloves, but OH NO!!! gloves dont work on the iphone platform!!! so, the solution,... well I'll just spend 24 USD on some gloves that have no tip on the index and thumb... They also advertise them as stylish and fun! hahahahah I cannot believe who will buy this, then again, I do not live in a cold place...

Here is the statement made by the company:
Etre Touchy gloves are a stylish, fun and practical way to keep your hands warm while using your touchscreen phone, portable games system, media player and other electronic gadgets. Their missing thumb and index fingertips give you the freedom to touch, tap, stroke, slide and pinch your devices’ controls in any way you desire.

BELOW: Some more practical, slightly stupid, uses for the gloves:

UP

After the hit sensation that was WALL-E this year, Pixar animation has released its newest trailer, for the movie called UP due in cinemas May 2009... the story is about an old man who spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest, but by age 78, life seems to have passed him by...until Russell comes along, an 8 year old wilderness explorer who gives him a new lease on life. The movie covers the adventures these 2 have together traveling around the globe... Definitely sounds interesting...

Whats next for Pixar? After Up, in 2010 we will get to see Toy Story come back for one more shot in Toy Story 3, and in 2011 Newt has been announced, the story is not quite clear but it involves two blue lizard like creatures called Newt and Brooke...

SNAPSHOTS: Slingshot Tees

Recently I have been doing a lot of research in the design t shirts business due to a certain project I have had, and snooping around the net I found this amazing internet e-store of t shirts called Slingshot T Shirts... The concept is pretty cool, you mostly find t shirts with movie and tv shows designs, specially retro like shirts, but there is also a huge collection of graphic music shirts, plus some random logos and retro stuff. The other cool site is www.80stees.com which is mostly like this one, I just thought in Slingshot there are way better ideas and novelty shirts.

I leave you here some collection of pictures from some of the best shirts of the site, some of my favorites include the Bauer CTU shirt, the Kramer one, the heroes logo, and of course the huge Family Guy collection... the superheroes stuff is also pretty cool, anyways to visit the site just click on any of the pics or CLICK HERE.

Marley and Me

Check out Owen Wilson's and Jennifer Anistons newest movie opening Christmas Day, seems both of them are turning to more family oriented films in this new comedy about the worlds worst dog... I wonder how much the Golden Retriever and Labrador sales will increase around the world even though the dog is showed as a troublemaker....

RIP Michael Crichton

Michael Crichton 1942-2008

Michael Crichton the worldwide known sci fi writer died this past tuesday on his home in Los Angeles... the reports indicate that he died of cancer at the age of 66.
Crichton has been criticized by many for his stands on global warming, for he was one of the strongest oppositors of Global Warming claiming that the situation was not as bad as governments wanted us to believe. He was also very influential on Hollywood for he wrote many hit movies, as well as directing some of his own work. Some hollywood classics written by Crichton include the very famous Jurassic Park I, II and III, Sphere, Disclosure, Rising Sun, Congo, The Terminal Man and the Andromeda Strain, he is also well known for being the author and creator of ER (Emergency Room) which is a TV Series that has been going on strongly for 15 seasons now. He also collaborated as a screenplay writer on the movies Twister and the Great Train Robbery...

I consider myself a big fan of his writing, and can personally say that his book State of Fear in which he debates the truth about global warming, has been one of my personal favorites for I have already read it 2 times and I strongly recommend it.

Here is a listing of some of his best novels:

1969 - The Andromeda Strain
1972 - The Terminal Man
1975 - The Great Train Robbery
1976 - Eaters of the Dead
1980 - Congo
1987 - Sphere
1990 - Jurassic Park
1992 - Rising Sun
1994 - Disclosure
1999 - Timeline
2002 - Prey
2004 - State of Fear
2006 - Next

RIP Michael Crichton...
