When Jamie Smiles
I love it whenever a movie requires a lot of production that after it is released in dvd the special features are cool (for example, zoolander, talladega nights, dodgeball) and this movie I just saw for like the 10th time in my life but I still love it...
This is the music video of the When Jamie Smiles song, form the Just Friends Movie, as sung by Dusty Dinlkeman (Chris Klein)...

Watchmen Movie
The comic book film adaptations frenzy continues!!! This time is another interesting story brought to the big screen. The comic: Watchmen, a 12 issue comic story developed back in the 80s by DC comics (Batman, Superman, the Flash). The story of the comic is set in 1985, in a fictitious world where costumed super heroes exist and the United States is on the verge of a nuclear war with the Soviet Union.
Watchmen tells the story of a group of past and present superheroes and the events that happen after one of their own is murdered. Similar as in Batman, in Watchmen the heroes are real people with real people problems and ethical decisions to be made, and also as in Batman, many of them dont even have super powers.
Watchmen has been critically acclaimed because of the way they have deconstructed the archetype of the typical superhero, the novel also won a Hugo Award, which is the most prestigious award you can win as a science fiction novel... this is the only comic book in history to have won it.
The film is being directed by the same guy who did 300, Zack Snyder, so for sure we will see again incredible effects and revolutionary scenes. And the main characters are not really well known guys, which I think will make it even better.
The Trailer:
The Cast:
Patrick Wilson (The Phantom of the Opera, The Alamo) as Daniel Dreiberg/Nite Owl II. A Retired vigilante superhero with great technological experience. Suit is similar to Batman's.
Billy Crudup (Almost Famous, Big Fish) as Dr. John Osterman/Dr. Manhattan. a superhero that works for the US government, who does possess super powers.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan (P.S. I Love You) as Edward Blake/The comedian. A vigilante superhero commisioned by the US government. Ron Pearlman who plays Hellboy was first considered for the role.
Jackie Early Haley (Semi Pro, Little Children) as Walter Kovacs/Rorschach a killer superhero who sees the world in black and white. One of the favorite by the fans.
Malin Akerman (The Heartbreak Kid, 27 Dresses) as Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II. A retired superheroine vigilante. Only woman superhero amongst all the watchmen.
Matthew Goode (Match Point, The Lookout) as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias. A retired vigilante superhero, who has made his appearance public after retiring. The role was originally intended for Jude Law or Tom Cruise, but both left the project due to different reasons.
Carla Gugino (Entourage, Sin City) as Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre. Retired vigilante superheroine and mother of Laurie Juspeczyk, the new Silk Spectre.
Stephen McHattie (300, A History of Violence) as Hollis Mason/Nite Owl. The first Nite Owl.
Matt Frewer (Dawn of the Dead) as Edward Jacobi/Moloch the Mystic. An elderly rehabilitated criminal.
Here is an interesting picture I found, with the castings as different directors have been set to made the movie in past years, and the ones who landed the role:
The Trailer sounds interesting, the Cast looks pretty good, the Director has a good rap, this promises to be one of the biggest films in 2009, lets see if it lives up to its hype.

The Dark Knight... THE BEST EVER???
I think the internet movie database is losing control of the way the votes are registered on their site... or maybe then, their not losing control, but simply they should implement a system, resembling the one wikipedia uses, where fans can affect the ratings, but they should also have a group of experts who have their own ranking....
YES, The Dark Knight is a great film, YES its one of the greatest films ever, YES its surrounded by great acting roles and great directing... But I truly DO NOT believe it should be on top of the Godfather 1 and 2, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Schindler's List, Star Wars and Casablanca... however, this again is a product of my own opinion, but I do not think it is the best film ever... If I had my word I would say, yes its top 10 quality, maybe even top 5, but now after 146,000 votes and counting, its still atop all of those films and its really quite amazing for me...
Then again, maybe all of these votes come from comic book addicts, or maybe this votes are affected because people have voted directly after coming from the movies, I guess, well just have to wait a bit more and see if The Dark Knight is truly number 1 after all...

Stacking up to the Giant: Cuil
Today, a bunch of ex Google employees, launched their pet project... a new search engine called Cuil, pronounced like 'cool', and their idea is to compete against the giant, and hurt its most notable weaknesses Google, right now has control of almost all the internet searches...
Cuil is fronted by Anna Patterson who has a PhD in computer science, and the search engine claims to be the biggest search engine index, consisting of almost 120 billion pages... her husband Tom Costello is currently the CEO of Cuil...
So what is the main difference between Google and Cuil? You can clearly see that Cuil wants to battle the giant, starting with the idea that the main page has a black background with a search box in the middle, simple yet opposite... and when you do a search, instead of just getting the results list, you get three columns, that might show a picture of what you looked for and a brief summary of the webpage, say 50 to 100 words... the feature that I really do like that Cuil brings to the table, is the narrow by category which appears on the side. For example, I did a Cuil search on Rafa Marquez (the mexican soccer star) and got several fan pages and news pages talking about the player, however on the narrow by category field, you can click on Mexico International Football Players, or Mexican Footballers, or Fifa World Cup 2006 players, FC Barcelona Players, etc.
To sum up, the search engine has good ideas and an interesting search format, however I find it hard to believe that users will change to Cuil, especially since Google, already has been inserted in the Firefox/Camino/IExploere/Safari Browsers, so until Cuil doesn't find a formula to battle this out, I guess using Google is still just easier...
When you look for it on your web browser be sure to write down CUIL and not CULI, or else you will get an italian pornsite... kind of reminds me of the hotmail, hotmial incident back in the days...

The Dark Knight
Couldn't wait until today to go to the movies to see Batman, so I went yesterday at midnight with my girlfriend and I can say the movie was everything I expected...
As Siskel and Ebert, now Ebert and Roper say, and with Borat's help I can honestly say the movie is two thumbs way up!!!! Christopher nolan delivers another great Batman film, with that incredibly dark, grim tone which characterized the first one, excellent music, amazing scenes, effects, characters, etc...
Every actor does an amazing job at their role, Christian Bale, as usual, delivers a great performance as a confused Batman who isn't sure if his role as the dark protector of Gotham City... Michael Caine, as well does a great Alfred again, covering the father like figure of Bruce Wayne and Batman... Politician/Villian Harvey Dent is played by Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman does a superb job with commisioner Gordon, as well as Morgan Freeman with Lucius Fox, the only weird thing about the movie, which many considered to be an upgrade was the trade the producers did with Katie Holmes, replacing her with Maggie Gyllenhaal...
Now, to the really AMAZING performance... Heath Ledger, who passed away earlier this year due to confusion with some medicines he was taking, does an Incredible job playing Batman's worst nemesis, The Joker, even though people said it would be a really tough job to do considering Jack Nicholson almost immortalized the villian back in 89... Ledger delivers a more punk like, aggressive and insane Joker, with a real funny wit and a really weird voice which really fits the character, and I can honestly say he does a way better job than Nicholson... obviously we should consider that the tone of this movie is way darker, than the one back in 1989... I wouldn't be surprised if the academy gives him the oscar for best actor, at least he will be nominated for sure...
I urge you to go and see this movie as soon as you can, its an instant classic, greatly entertaining for the whole family.
Lankuriosidad's Rating: 9.8

Del Toro is The Wolfman
Benicio del Toro is set to transform himself into the infamous Wolfman, the movie which was originally made in 1941 is directed bye Joe Johnston, better known for directing Jumanji, The Rocketeer and Jurassic Park 3... The movie is set for release on April 3 2009 and it stars Benicio as Lawrence Talbot, the man who si bitten by a werewolf who later on turns out to be the wolfman of course, Anthony Hopkins as Sir John Talbot, Lawrence's Father, Emily Blunt, as the woman Lawrence falls in love with and Hugo Weaving (Mr. Anderson from the Matrix) as the detective chasing after the Wolfman.
Rick Baker, the famous make up artist, pursued the film as soon as he knew they were remaking it, since he wanted to be the one who transforms Del Toro into wolfman, in his own words he said 'Benicio is already the wolfman, you just need to add some extra hair and bigger teeth and thats it'... some of you might not know who Rick Baker is, but he has won 6 academy awards for best makeup and he is the mastermind behind great character movies such as Star Wars, King Kong, An American Werewolf in London, Harry and the Hendersons, Thriller, Planet of the Apes and Men in Black... just to name a few of his hits...
Sounds like a really interesting movie and plot, lets just hope that the director does a good job with it, I mean, the movies he has under his belt are not quite the best, of course he has the added bonus that Benicio is playing the part, which will probably be a great acting performance...
anyways I leave you with some teaser pictures and a still shot from the upcoming 2009 film:
