URBAN REPORTS: Bien por Encanto, Mal por Sabritas

Ayer fui a un OXXO en una de mis salidas y teniendo algo de hambre se me antojaron unas papitas, siendo yo fan de siempre probar cosas nuevas, especialmente si papas van a ser, me tope con unas Conchitas encanto sabor jalapeño, asi que me las compré y me da gusto decirles que estan 100 por ciento recomendables, a diferencia de las otras conchitas que habia probado las granielote, que realmente me dio asco cuando las probe y no me pude acabar la bolsa, estas estan muy ricas picositas y con un ligero sabor a jalapeño... Que buena idea la de encanto, la variedad de sabores que le pueden dar a las conchitas es infinito! estoy seguro que al rato veremos Conchitas Ranch o Conchitas Spicy o algo por el estilo...


Ahora a Sabritas! Me encantaría saber quienes son las personas encargadas de el diseño de los empaques de las bolsas sabritas, porque ahora resulta que las tan famosas y ricas Quesabritas, bueno creo que le habian cambiado el nombre a Bolitas, ahora les cambiaron el empaque y francamente me pareció una basura, en lugar de ser un upgrade es un paso para atrás! lo único bueno es que parece que ya le regresaron el nombre de quesabritas... sinceramente cuando las vi pensé que eran una version pirata de otra marca y cuando me acerqué vi el logo de Sabritas en chiquito... mmm Taaaaachota para Sabritas...

URBAN REPORTS: Surround Sound

Just saw this bit of mexican creativity on a little taco place... its on the Tacos Gil on Lazaro Cardenas, seems as if they were having a hard time listening to the TV because they are right next to a really big avenue they decided to buy another TV with surround sound, but instead of that, someone had a better idea... why dont we stick half a plastic cup on each side and aim them towards us...

URBAN REPORTS: Wheels, swimming and some jail time...

The urban reporter has been missing for a while, but now Im back and I have a lot of pictures pending to post, so its gonna be a long urban report the first of 2oo8...

The first snapshot, I was long waiting to post it, because I had seen it before, but never before I had a camera with me to take pictures... its a spare tires business and well, the funny thing is the creative way that the owner (alfonso) has created an original name for his store here it is.. btw it also applies with Telas..

My second one was just a stupid sign in my opinion, also worth of being here, its an advertisment I saw on a volkswagen beetle for a swimming class... just check out the ample market these guys cover... it is never too late to start taking swimming lessons, according to these guys...



Were you ever like me that you thought of your school as a jail? at least sometimes? well the architect and the owners of this school, gave the guys no chance, its a private school in San Nicolas, and i will not mention any names, maybe one of you recognizes it, but man, what a creepy design, this is just one picture, but just so you can imagine the rest when I entered I thought I was in a chinese prison... BTW the school accepts a lot of rejects, so maybe that was the intention after all....

URBAN REPORTS: ¨Hymn to the Aztecs¨

Since this past tuesday was November 20th Day of the mexican revolution, this urban report includes two, some might call them figures, from the city of Monterrey.
On my first journey I encountered an Aztec Indian, thats right, just like that on the streets, playing a little flute and a little drum, of course he is not an actual aztec guy, but his costume was pretty convincing, and as it happened with the menonitas, this was just odd to find on the streets.

The second picture of this week´s post is a monument to commemorate the writer of the mexican national anthem, and the anthem itself. The bulding´s name is Mexicanos al grito de guerra, which is the first line in our national anthem, the writer was Francisco Gonzalez Bocanegra, and his name is imprinted also on the outside, its a pretty nice sight and its located in the Linda Vista in Monterrey.

Thats all for this week, and also on a personal note to Rukini: I spend a lot of time in the car cause in my line of work is the same as if I worked in sales, I have to go all over the city meeting contacts, visiting people, and opening clubs...

URBAN REPORTS

A new chapter in the lankuriosidad world is born. Since in my job I do around 3 to 5 hours driving, I decided to start taking pictures of stuff that I see in the streets and stuff that I encounter as we tour the city of Monterrey and its metropolitan area.

Also in the urban reports im going to select interesting stuff from every article and make a link to wikipedia or some other reference page, so you can learn more about this stuff every time the urban reporter speaks...

URBAN REPORTS: "Menonitas y Tacos de Barbacoa"

Today as I was driving through the streets of Monterrey I noticed something weird on the streets, yes it is usual to see people selling stuff on the streets, usually its a guy selling chile's or windshield wipers for your car... but this time it was different... I actually saw a true Mennonite (menonita)! which are the guys who supposedly live in farms and make cheese, well this is the guy in the picture and the way he was dressed and the color of his skin told us he was one of them, not only was he wearing that outfit, he was selling cheese!!!!! incredible...

The other part of the report is to tell you about these amazing Taco place called Tacos del Remolque, they have two cars both of them in the Contry area of Monterrey, but the difference from other taco stands is that instead of the taquero being a man, its two women serving tacos!!! so the taste of the food is just like if it was homemade... in many ways the place is different from other businesses, but they still have, barbacoa, deshebrada, machacado, papa c/chorizo and frijoles, their edge though is with the cheese with chorizo tacos, and sausage and cheese tacos, talking to the Taco ladies they were telling me that they open at 8 am and by 10 30 am they dont have any more sausage, by 11 30 no more chorizo... they can say what they want about their different kinds of tacos, I tried a couple and the best ones are the Chorizo with cheese tacos, and incredibly the barbacoa tacos are now one of my favorites, they also have some nice habanero sauce, and a whole other variety of sauces.

its a really great place to eat those morning tacos, if you ever want to go, just ask the urban reporter...
